With Christmas just a few days away, Michelle and James introduced romance and a festive spirit to their December wedding at Curradine Barns.

The Perfect Venue

Dreaming of having a spectacular Christmas tree and an open fire at their wedding, Michelle and James were looking for a special venue for their December day. They loved the rustic style of Curradine Barns as well as its size and the natural flow of the rooms.

“We also loved the idea that by the time our wedding breakfast began at 4pm, it would be dark and our guests could see the fairy lights in the trees outside!”

Design and Décor

Christmas became a natural ‘theme’ for the day and fairy lights and candles adorned the venue.

In the Granary Barn, lanterns lined the aisle and the magnificent Christmas tree was decorated with white fairy lights. In the Barley Barn, single stem roses and eucalyptus featured on the wall behind the top table.

“Each table had a miniature Christmas tree with fairy lights as a table centre, as well as a large lantern and wrapped presents.”

Bridal Style

Michelle chose ‘Lacrecia’ by Sottero & Midgley, a stunning organza gown with opulent beading and Swarovski crystals on the bodice.

“I wanted a backless dress and it was just so elegant. I loved it the moment I tried it on.” MICHELLE

The beautiful bride completed her elegant look with blue shoes from Karen Millen and delicate jewellery. She carried a fabulous, festive bouquet of white roses with eucalyptus and red berries.

Meanwhile, James wore a navy wool suit from Peter Posh, accessorising with a tweed waistcoat, maroon tie and pocket square.

Finally, Michelle’s bridesmaids wore three-quarter length silver wrap dresses by Alice Temperley with maroon shoes from Zara.

Order of the Day

Following their romantic ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the bar at Curradine, wandering outside in to the courtyard as the weather was surprisingly warm.

Moving in to the Barley Barn for their wedding breakfast, a Scotch egg starter was followed by lamb for the main course and a trio of desserts.

“The desserts were beautiful. We tried them at our Tasting Event and thought they suited each other perfectly.”

Evening Celebrations

Starting their evening party with a swing, the happy couple danced their first dance to ‘Guava Jelly’ by Johnny Nash.

“It’s a reggae song that we love and has been ‘our song’ for a long time. James sang the entire song loudly throughout the first dance!” MICHELLE

Locally sourced sausage rolls and pasties proved an exceptional choice for evening dining.

“There were none left at the end and our guests still talk about how much they loved them! The day went so perfectly – the events team are all true professionals.”

Favourite Moments

“Our wedding ceremony. Saying our vows meant such a lot to us and it was amazing to do that with everyone we care about there to see. It was the highlight of our day.”
