Liv and Alex’s DIY Spring Wedding

When it came to finding their perfect wedding venue in Worcestershire, Liv and Alex wanted somewhere where they could be themselves with a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy with their friends and family at their spring wedding. Having chanced upon Curradine Barns in a blog post while scouring the internet for inspiration, Liv assumed that this barn wedding venue would be located in the middle of nowhere, only to be delightfully surprised that it was only 45 minutes from their house!

The theme and styling

The couple loved the rustic country appeal of Curradine Barns and decided to keep their decorations minimal to let the beauty of the venue shine out. The decorations that they did use however, were all homemade and created by the happy couple. They spent years collecting different pieces which allowed them to put their own personal touches on the day, and also to save a bit of money too!

Liv and Alex decided on a post box red and white colour scheme for their special day and it was present throughout the venue, with beautiful white flowers that portrayed their spring wedding wonderfully.

The dress

Liv looked incredible in her stunning wedding dress, and it was the very first one she tried on too. She wore the Lucille dress by expert designer Eliza Jane Howell, which, with its elegant shape, intricate embellishment and wonderful vintage-inspired style, was the perfect choice. She combined it with a sparkling headband, a white faux fur shrug, and a fantastic pair of glittering red heels to add a splash of colour to her look.

The outfits

Alex opted for a stylish navy tweed suit, combined with a knitted bow tie and tan brogues, while the groomsmen incorporated a red knotted bow tie and pocket square to their outfits which worked with the colour scheme perfectly. Even the page boys were suited and booted, and nearly stole the show with how cute they looked!

Liv’s three sisters were her beautiful bridesmaids, and they looked amazing in post box red dresses, sparkling white shoes and pretty gypsophila bouquets. The perfect look to accompany their sister throughout the day.

Big day celebrations at Curradine Barns

Liv and Alex’s day went off without a hitch and they had an amazing time from start to finish. Liv and her sisters made full use of the luxurious Bridal Dressing Room to prepare for the occasion and were then escorted to the ceremony by the most dapper page boys. The couple tied the knot in the breathtaking, chapel-like Granary Barn before celebrating with drinks and photos with all their guests in the idyllic courtyard.

It was a truly unforgettable day and the happy couple certainly had the fun-filled spring wedding with their nearest and dearest that they had always dreamt of.

Final thoughts

Looking back on their wedding day, Liv explained to us why they had such a good time.

“Alex and I didn’t stop laughing for the whole day – all the pictures show that! I think it was a mixture of being so happy and a feeling of disbelief that we were actually married!” – Liv
