As we find ourselves in the midst of the winter season, we’re dreaming of cosy winter weddings, romantic candlelight, faux fur and seasonal foliage. If you’re in the midst of planning your winter wedding at Curradine Barns, we hope our planning guide will offer a little inspiration.
Consider your Date
First things first… it’s time to set your date. If you’d like your wedding to have a festive, Christmas vibe, you might like to choose a December date. This gives you the perfect opportunity to go to town with festive décor – perhaps a fabulous tree and even beautiful baubles as favours. Of course, you’ll need to avoid the 25th and 26th of December.
Whichever date you choose, bear in mind that December can be a busy time for your guests. Save the Date cards are a great idea, allowing people plenty of time to make arrangements.
Plan your Colour Scheme
While you might adopt the traditional festive red and green, or winter white, there are a multitude of sophisticated colour schemes for this time of year.
Create warmth with decadent emerald greens, plums and rich burgundy, bringing the outside in with lush foliage. And, if you like the idea of metallics, embrace a range of golds, from copper to bronze, or combine gold and silver together. Black and white also work perfectly at this time of year, particularly if you opt for a black tie dress code.
When choosing your décor, create a romantic ambience with fairy lights and candles, and add texture and warmth with foliage, feathers and faux fur.
Choose your Bridal Style
Even in the winter months, it can be lovely to wander out into our Courtyard and enjoy a few photographs in the beautiful countryside surroundings. Make sure you and your bridesmaids stay warm, either by choosing dresses with sleeves or accessorising with faux fur wraps or shawls. When it comes to your groom and groomsmen, there’s nothing we love more than wool or tweed at this time of year… and don’t forget the waistcoats!
Embrace the Season
Whatever time of year you choose to marry, look out for seasonal food and flowers. You’ll lower your carbon footprint, save money and have exceptional ingredients and beautiful blooms that suit the season and the style of your day.
Your winter floral arrangements are likely to include rich colours, berries and foliage, perhaps alongside branches and cones.
Delight in your Winter Menu
There is much to love about your seasonal menu and the catering team are on hand at Curradine Barns to create an exquisite dining experience for you and your guests.
Welcome your guests with delicious canapés and perhaps a rum bar or a warming spiced cider. Discuss your menu with our talented team of chefs and don’t forget the fabulous evening dining options, from theatrical firepit barbecues to vibrant wok food from the Curradine Cantina.
At this time of year, we’re also rather passionate about our boozy hot chocolate stations, complete with whipped cream and marshmallows and just the thing for your evening party.
