Alex and Ivan’s Vintage Summer Wedding at Curradine Barns
With a fifties vibe, vibrant colour scheme, seasonal flowers and fabulous entertainment, love was in the air for the summer wedding of Alex and Ivan.
The Perfect Venue
With a July date in mind, Alex and Ivan were looking for a barn wedding venue in Worcestershire. On the hunt for a venue with character, they also wanted somewhere that would suit their smaller, more intimate celebration.
“Curradine Barns felt big enough to be spacious but small enough to be intimate. It was illuminated with fairy lights and felt really special when we looked around. We both knew straight away it was the venue for us.” – Alex
Design and Décor
Alex’s wedding shoes proved the perfect inspiration for the day. From ‘Poetic License’ and with yellow and blue polka dots, yellow became the predominant colour for this glorious summer wedding. Jam jars filled with seasonal blooms adorned the venue along with hearts decorated with yellow paper flowers.
“We chose things we liked and fortunately they all went together! We wanted to create a relaxed, fun atmosphere and for everyone to have a really good time.” – Alex
After trying on a number of dresses, the beautiful bride chose a dress by Chi Chi London.
“I didn’t want to spend too much on my dress and wanted something plain to show off the other accessories.” – Alex
She accessorised with simple jewellery and a fabulous bird cage veil personalised with a bow with daisies. Finally, Alex’s fabulous shoes completed the look.
The Outfits
Ivan looked the part in a navy morning suit with yellow tie. And, Alex’s six bridesmaids were stunning in 1950’s style yellow polka dot dresses from Dolly & Dotty.
On the Day
Following their romantic ceremony in the Granary Barn, welcome drinks were served in the bar and garden while guests were entertained by a close-up magician.
Sharing boards were the perfect choice for a summer starter, followed by a palette cleanser and chicken sharing board for the main course. For pudding, a trio of desserts with Eton Mess, chocolate torte and panna cotta was simply delicious.
“The venue were so good at helping us put together a menu that flowed well and featured something for everyone. We also wanted to love the food… and we did. I love that style of casual dining.” – Alex
Party Time
As day turned to evening, the newlyweds danced their first dance to ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ by the Arctic Monkeys and a live band filled the dance floor.
“Having an awesome band was the main thing I wanted. It creates such a good atmosphere and really encourages people to get up and dance!” – Alex
Wood fired pizza from the Curradine Cantina added to that celebratory atmosphere – a winning finale to this most special day.
Memorable Moments
“I just adored every single part of the day, from getting ready with the girls to getting married. I loved the food and thought the band were amazing. We were dancing all night long and were surrounded by the people we love.”
