Alice and J’s Personalised Autumn Wedding
Leaving no stone unturned, Alice and J put their passions and personalities in to every element of their wedding day, resulting in a truly joyful celebration, full of love.
The Perfect Venue
With an October wedding date in mind, Alice and J were searching for their dream wedding venue in Worcestershire. Visiting Curradine Barns almost exactly a year before their big day, they could see how beautiful if looked in the autumn.
“The colours and lights were amazing. We knew as soon as we arrived that Curradine Barns was the one!” – Alice
Design and Décor
Burgundy was chosen as the key wedding colour and the happy couple started to plan the style of the day.
J refers to Alice as her ‘Alice in Wonderland’ so there was a definite nod to the book through the décor including ‘Drink Me’ tags, photobooth props, table names and the amazing Alice wedding cake. Continuing to personalise their day, there were also references to superheroes (J is a superhero fan!).
“We made quite a few of the decorations ourselves, adding a personal touch. For our favours, we wrote messages on stones that we had collected from our recent family holiday.” – Alice
Finally, the florist worked her magic with a rustic look, adding beautiful white feathers to the bouquets and J’s buttonhole.
“We wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere and a day that celebrated us. All our photos show genuine happiness and celebration.” – Alice
Bridal Style
Alice chose a stunning Stella York gown with lace detail in a delicate shade of pink.
“When I put it on, I knew it was the one.” – Alice
She accessorised with her grandmother’s necklace (something old), a hair clip from a friend (something borrowed) and ribbon lace-up shoes (something new).
“My bridesmaids were in navy – our something blue!” – Alice
Meanwhile, J wore a fabulous burgundy Armani blazer with shirt and burgundy waistcoat, changing the buttons to match the blazer. With an appreciation of elegant accessories, she chose Churches shoes, a Monaco Tag Heuer watch and feather cufflinks.
Order of the Day
Following their romantic ceremony in the Granary Barn, accompanied by live music, drinks and canapés were served in the Courtyard at Curradine.
“The Sangria Flora was beautiful and didn’t last long as everybody loved it!” – Alice
Music played a major role in this special day with the talented Dan Greenaway playing for two brides to walk down the aisle and delighting the newlyweds and their guests as he continued to play throughout the day and evening.
Opting for more casual dining was a great choice for the wedding breakfast.
“We wanted to keep it rustic. All the food was amazing.” – Alice
Evening Celebrations
As day turned to evening, the happy couple danced their first dance to Delta Goodrem’s version of ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’, performed by Dan Greenaway and J’s talented niece, Liz.
“It was one of the best moments of the day – absolutely beautiful and perfect – and it took the focus off my awful dancing!” – Alice
Wood-fired pizza was served and the dance floor filled – the happiest of endings to the happiest of days.
Advice from the Newlyweds
“Don’t get bogged down by little things. They always work out on the day. As long as you two are there and married, nothing else matters.”
