Lindsay and Steven’s Spring Celebrations at Curradine Barns

Love really was in the air for this happiest of days at Curradine Barns. Lindsay and Steve said their vows surrounded by romance, family, friends and plenty of fun and laughter.

The Perfect Venue

With family travelling from around the country, Lindsay and Steve were on the look out for a venue where their guests could come together, with a comfortable, homely feel.

“We loved the barn features and the flow from one area in to the next. Every room felt like the perfect size and Curradine Barns was perfect both inside and out – a special venue whatever the weather!” – Lindsay and Steven

Theme of the Day

Lindsay had her heart set on a barn venue and worked with the style of the venue to create a rustic wedding theme. Lavender was the chosen colour, with lanterns and petals lining the ceremony aisle, a ‘magic tree’ in the Barley Barn, illuminated letters, hessian banners and birdcages.

“We made a lot of the decorations ourselves. From invitations and favours to table numbers and sweetie bags.” – Lindsay

All About the Dress

Lindsay’s dress was by Mori Lee. The beautiful bride accessorised with Swarovski crystal earrings and a necklace that had been a gift from Steve when they first started dating. She also wore a personalised blue garter with piece from a hairslide that her grandma had given to her mum.

“I love anything that sparkles. This dress really pulled me in in all the right places, and made me sparkle from head to toe! My mum gave me the garter on the morning of the wedding and it was perfect. It was my something blue and, while my grandma is no longer with us, I had something from her walking with me down the aisle.” – Lindsay

As for the Groom and the Bridesmaids…

Lindsay’s three sisters wore long strapless dresses in the perfect shade of lavender, while her step-daughter wore a similar dress but with straps. All the shoes were from New Look, and they each wore a pretty bracelet with their initial, an infinity symbol and a pearl – a gift from Lindsay on the morning of the wedding. “We all wore the same perfume,” says Lindsay. “Blooming Bouquet by Dior!”

The groom and his ushers hired grey suits from Moss Bros. Finding ties to match the bridesmaids dresses turned in to something of a challenge! In the end Lindsay found beautiful Italian ties online, in the perfect shade of purple.

Beautiful Blooms

Lindsay carried a beautiful bouquet consisting of white roses, gypsophila and eucalyptus leaves alongside beautiful ‘Ocean Song’ and ‘Amnesia’ roses which introduced the lavender shade. In keeping with tradition, the bridesmaids carried the same blooms in smaller posies. Roses also featured in the buttonholes.

In the venue, the same flowers were used as well as twisted twigs and fairy lights. The table centerpieces looked stunning with flowers in large white jugs.

“My dad and step mum used to own a florist shop, so I asked them to do the flowers. They bought all the wedding flowers, did all the arrangements and set up on the morning of the wedding before a quick change in to wedding attire!”- Lindsay

The Wedding Breakfast

Following Buck’s Fizz in the bar, guests wandered through to the Barley Barn to dine on delicious sausages and mash. Sticky toffee pudding with custard was served for dessert.

“We chose something we love and that we thought most guests would enjoy.” – Lindsay

Let Them Eat Cake!

Steve’s mum baked a fabulous three-tier fruit cake which was then decorated by a professional cake designer – a cake that both looked and tasted great! An elegant design, it was white with sugar flowers in the wedding colours.

Evening Celebrations
Lindsay and Steve danced their first dance to ‘Nobody Does it Better’ from the James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’. A live band really got the party started. Delighting their guests once again, Peri Peri chicken was cooked on the barbeque with wraps, vegetables and coleslaw. Simply delicious!

Lindsay’s Favourite Moment…

“It was all so perfect. I guess I would say that it was just after walking down the aisle (having managed not to fall over!) and holding Steve’s hand.”

Steve’s Favourite Moment…

“Seeing Lindsay walking in to the ceremony… and then us walking out of the ceremony to a song written and performed by my late father. And I loved the laughter as we entered the Barley Barn complete with Blues Brothers accessories!”
